Kosambari

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup of Moong dal
  2. 1 cup cucumber, chopped finelys
  3. 1/4 cup freshly grated coconut
  4. 2 green chilies, chopped
  5. Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  6. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  7. 1/2 tsp Oil
  8. A pinch of asafetida
  9. A pinch of turmeric powder
  10. Juice of ½ a lemon
  11. Salt to taste

Method

  1. Soak the dal till it becomes soft enough to eat.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, and add the mustard seeds.
  3. As the seeds splutter, add the green chilies, turmeric powder and asafetida powder.
  4. Remove from flame, and mix it with the dal.
  5. Add the rest of the ingredients, and mix well before serving.
