In late 1950s smoking and it's ill effects were first noticed by scientists. But in 1962 a committee by Royal College of Physicians in Britain declared that smoking is direct cause of lung cancer, bronchitis and relation with cardiovascular diseases. After publishing the discussion people came to know about the ill effects of smoking.
