I am obese & have irregular menses due to hormonal imbalance as told by my family doctor. Is hormonal treatment recommended in this condition or reducing weight may help me?

Your physician is right obesity can cause hormonal imbalance. Weight reduction will definitely help you to regularize the menses but in some cases hormonal treatment is necessary. What you can do is start both simultaneously and once you achieve your target weight and your menses are normal you can always stop taking the medicine.
