I want to know the effect of cigarette while breastfeeding. I have 2 month old twin boys weigh 4.2 kg both....born preterm....4 weeks before due date...I smoked 3 cigarette 2 hrs ago. Want to know for how long do I have to wait to breastfeed...my kids are both breastfed and formula fed.....

After smoking the more you wait before breastfeed the better it is. However it takes approximately 3 hours for nicotine to leave from your body. SO, you can breast feed your baby anytime after that. However it is highly recommended that you completely abstain from smoking while breast feeding .
