Hello. I'm a 20 year old girl. I never had acne problems before. It suddenly started 2 years back. Now, my face is full of them and it never seems to go. My family doctor prescribed me retin-a and I have been using it religiously every night since the last 8 months but it doesn't work for me. I have a combination skin, but it tends to get dry in winters. Also, I have no digestion problems. It would be really helpful of you if you can advice me with what to do, my skin looks horrible.

Pimples is formed when your skin pores are blocked by oil or dirt and infected by bacteria. It can also be due to other reasons like : hormonal changes, side effects of certain medications, due to other disease like PCOD etc. In such cases the underlying cause needs to be treated. Retin-A is the best treatment option in cases of acne. You can do some more things to get the best results. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin healthy and properly hydrated. You can also clean your face by steaming it over hot water and then dap it with the clean towel, this will help in opening the blocked pores, remove dirt and help you reduce pimples.
